Is It for You?

Medical Physics explores the ways in which physics is applied in the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses. You’ll learn to apply physics-based concepts and methodologies to procedures such as medical imaging, radiation therapy, radiation protection and dosimetry. You will complete a thesis project and can pursue an optional paid co-op, benefitting from Toronto Metropolitan University’s close academic connection to hospitals. You’ll graduate with the knowledge, experience and problem-solving capabilities to provide solutions in areas related to health care.

This is one of three bachelor of science programs that share a one-year foundation.

After Graduation

You will unite knowledge, hands-on learning and problem solving capabilities to provide new solutions and practices in areas such as health-care; medical and business organizations; enterprises engaged in the application of physics and technology; biomedical research and development; radiation exposure testing; cancer diagnosis, treatment and management services. You may work as a cardiac sonographer, MRI technologist, radiation protection surveyor, or registered technologist in nuclear medicine (RTNM). You may also choose to pursue graduate studies (MSc and PhD) in medical/health physics or related areas or a professional degree program in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, business, law or education.
