Is It for You?

Criminology is the study of crime and justice, and their relationship to the police, courts, prison and other systems of regulation. You’ll gain hands-on experience through international exchanges, research and case studies. You’ll graduate with the ability to think critically about issues in law, social inequality, human rights, Indigenous justice, ethics, crime control and prevention. Upon graduation, apply your understanding of the critical issues of race, class and gender to the administration of the criminal justice system.

This is one of 10 bachelor of arts programs that share a one-year foundation.

Double major options available after first year: Criminology and History, Criminology and Politics and Governance, or Criminology and Sociology.

After Graduation

Students are prepared to work towards defending social justice and human rights through inventive solutions to the fundamental justice issues of our time. They find opportunities working in social or victim services; support prisoners and people in conflict with the law; defend migrant and refugee rights; and advocacy for Indigenous, gender and youth justice. You may choose to pursue law school or graduate studies in criminology, social justice and other disciplines.
