Is It for You?

Chemists create new and useful materials and products, protect the environment and fight disease. You’ll understand matter and energy and their interactions with each other, and combine research and application to expand current practices and improve quality of life. Program highlights include access to fully equipped labs, an optional independent laboratory research project and a paid co-op option. You’ll also have the chance to further customize your degree with a specialization in Applied Physics or an optional specialization in Management Sciences.

This is one of three bachelor of science programs that share a one-year foundation.

After Graduation

Science-educated professionals are in demand in areas including research and management in government, academia or industry; biochemistry, environmental science; pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemistry, forensics; laboratory analytical services, quality control, synthesis; product development; sales and marketing. You may work as an analytical chemist, enzyme chemist, organic chemist, biochemistry research scientist or product release analyst. You may also choose to pursue graduate studies or a professional program in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, law or education.

“I was attracted to the downtown experience in Canada’s leading science and technology innovation hub. I’ve gained hands-on skills in techniques not traditionally taught in undergrad and exposure to how real research labs work.”
